As part of an ongoing police investigation into the incident, officers from Wagga Highway Patrol would like to speak with anyone who saw the champagne-coloured Mazda 626 sedan on the Sturt Highway between Borambola and Wagga on October 31.
The rear driver's side wheel had no tyre and was being driven on its rim, prompting officers to stop the car on the highway at Gumly Gumly about 7pm.
Investigators would like anyone who was travelling on the highway between 6.30pm and 6.50pm on October 31 and saw the Mazda being driven west to call Wagga police station on 6922 2599.

At the time, police checks revealed the sedan hadn't been registered since September last year and the plates didn't match the car.
The plates were allegedly stolen from another vehicle at Canberra Airport the same day.
The 49-year-old ACT man behind the wheel remains before the courts charged with a string of traffic and property offences.
They included driving while disqualified, driving recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving an uninsured vehicle, using unauthorised number plates, and receiving property stolen outside NSW.
