With storm clouds circling an estimated crowd close to 5000 converged on the Wellington racecourse for the 34th running of the Wellington Boot. This year the coveted race for two year olds was won by I Am Snippety who is owned and trained by Neil Osborne from Canberra and was ridden by star apprentice, Winona Costin from Kembla Grange. Each year local business owners sponsor an entrant for the Miss Wellington Boot competition. The night before the big race each entrant draws the name of one of the runners in the feature race and this year Gracie Nelson was crowned Miss Wellington Boot. Fashion in the field winners included, local girl Millie Mills in the under 12s, with 18 to 30 year old best-dressed male and female going to Paul Rich, Wellington, and Kirsty Colliver, Dubbo. The best dressed open titles were taken home by Ian Knox, Curra Creek, and Jackie Emery, Dubbo. See more pictures from the carnival here.
