A statement from police said it is believed that the driver of a Mitsubishi Triton was travelling northbound on Holbrook Road when the vehicle left the road and hit a tree.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The driver, a 28-year-old man, was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries and taken to hospital where he remains. The passenger, a six-year-old boy, died at the scene.
As investigations continue, police urge anyone who may have seen the vehicle prior to the crash - or who may have dashcam/CCTV footage from the area - to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
