Mr Ellison said the company was performing maintenance work for Wagga City Council at Robertson Oval's floodlights and he and his co-workers were rewarded with a stunning view.
"I've been there a couple of times, but Josh was doing his training with me that day," Mr Ellison said.
"We installed the lights about 10 years ago and we were just performing annual maintenance."
Despite being the highest summit he had worked at, third year apprentice lineman, Mr Buchanan, 21, said the height did not faze him.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"The highest I'd been up before was only about 20 metres and the floodlights were 60 metres up and took us less than five minutes to climb up there," he said.
"We were strapped on with a harness and had gravity clips that stop you from falling suddenly and once we got to the top we strapped lanyard clips to the railings.
"We were up there for just under an hour, fixing the cabling and lugs inside the lighting and just doing a general check."
Impressed with the panorama, Mr Buchanan said the view gave him a different perspective of Wagga.
"It's a pretty cool 360 degree view from up there," he said.
"We could see for miles and I didn't realise how busy Wagga was until I saw all the cars and people that looked like ants from that height."
