The Wagga side was held scoreless in the second half but held on to take a 18-14 win.
Coach David Warburton was pleased to hit back after suffering their first loss of the season against Temora the week earlier.
"It was nice to get back in the winners' circle," Warburton said.
"They are probably not one of the top sides but they definitely pushed us to the wire.
"Our numbers have been a little low at training so it was good to be able to get away with the win."

Sophie Gaynor crossed for a double to give Kangaroos a strong lead at the break.
Warburton is pleased with how the Country tackle representative adapted after shifting into lock this season..
"I've changed her position this year as she's a fullback with the Riverina side and last year for us she played on the wing but I think she's got more to offer than that," he said.
"I've moved her into the middle of the park and just let her defend and have a bit of a scoot when she feels like it.
"It's working out for us and she's slowly getting used to being in the middle.
"She's a good player."
Meanwhile Brothers extended their winning start to the season with a 34-0 win over Junee while Temora scored a 20-12 win over premiers Young, who are still yet to open their account this season.
The results leave Kangaroos in fourth but they are only two points behind ladder leaders Brothers, who they had a draw with to start the season.
Warburton believes the ladder is a great indication of just how tight the competition is.
"We've had the one loss and the draw at the start of the year and we're in fourth spot so it just shows how strong the competition is," he said.
"Brothers were pretty strong in the first game and will be tough, Temora obviously beat us so they're pretty strong and I'm surprised Young are so far down the ladder as the game we played against them out there was a real physical game for leaguetag.
"It was a really tough game to win and we haven't yet played Albury and they're right up there.
"I think the actual competition is so even."
Kangaroos will tackle Junee on Friday night, Southcity hosts Temora on Saturday while Young will be looking to end their drought at home to Gundagai on Sunday.
