The Steamers have now won five of their six games after holding on for a 25-22 win at Murrayfield.
Albury led 20-5 at half-time and just held off the Wagga outfit to sit a clear second on the ladder, three points ahead of Waratahs.
Steamers coach Elyse Burns is thrilled with the performances the team has been able to put in so far this season.
"Five wins out of six, for us, is unheard of," Burns said.
"It's phenomenal. I think I'm still processing how well we've done."
She's been particularly pleased with how everything they've been doing at training has come out on the field
Griffith are the only team to get the better of Albury so far and they continued their impressive return to the competition with a 47-0 win over premiers Ag College at Beres Ellwood Oval on Saturday.
Ua Ravu scored four tries in the emphatic display, Fapiola Uoifalelahi bagged a hat-trick while Lele Katoa was the only other Blacks player to hit the scoreboard as she crossed for a double and kicked the lone conversion of the game
Meanwhile Tumut and CSU played out a 24-all draw to keep Reddies out of the top four.
Ellen McIntyre scored all four tries for the Wagga outfit.
Leeton also scored their first win of the season with the 25-15 result at Hay No.1 Oval ensuring Hay remain winless through the first six rounds.
