Winless Brothers went try-for-try with the premiers for the first 20 minutes but they couldn't keep up the pace in the second stanza at Anzac Park on Sunday.
A try to Zac Fairall gave Gundagai an 18-10 lead just before half-time and co-coach Luke Berkrey was pleased with how his side finished off the clash.
"I was a lot happier with how we went, especially in the second half," Berkrey said.
"We had a lot more energy about us, held the ball for longer periods and I think we were pretty good in the second half so that's a nice positive going into next week."

Gundagai were shocked by Albury last time out, and were pushed early by Brothers, but looked more like themselves with a strong second half performance.
Tyron Gorman was strong in his second game in the centres and was one of three players to cross for a double.
Troy Barby also bagged a double while Fairall crossed for his second as well.
Berkrey continues to be impressed with the young hooker.
"Young Zac Fairall was just enormous," he said.
Berkrey labelled the win the side's best so far this season.
However he's still looking for plenty of improvement ahead of a clash with Kangaroos on Saturday.
"It is a bit of a confidence boost for the side going into next week, which will be even tougher," he said.
Meanwhile Brothers are on the hunt for their first win when they tackle Albury.
