Placed in eight of his first 18 starts, Trever's Desire forced his way to the top and was able to stay there to bring up his second win.
The Cootamundra trainer was pleased with his performance.
"We've been very disappointed in him as he's run quite a few seconds at Temora and bought him here last week when he run a terrible race," O'Keefe said.
"He got blocked off and couldn't get through but today we thought he had a bit of a chance."
Trever's Desire ($5.50) held off Hurricane Ashy ($4) to win by just over a length.
O'Keefe was pleased with how Trever's Desire responded after a couple of down the track performances.
He thought the wider box draw suited.
"If he jumps and they hold him in the guts he will just pull out of it but this time he knew there were hardly any dogs on the outside and just kept going straight," O'Keefe said.
Meanwhile Impress Bobby clocked an impressive 18.10 seconds to make it two wins on the trot.
It was part of a double for Illabo trainer Peter Sims who also tasted success with Prince Of Lygon later on the card.
Michael Finn took out the feature race on the card with Tiggerlong Pink scoring from the inside box.
