State Emergency Services (SES) were called to Mary Gilmore Way at around 2.50am. It's understood the truck had become stuck in the waters about 2am.

"The water was still rising when we arrived," said James Gault, Temora SES deputy commander.

Police were joined on scene by five members of the SES - three from Temora and two from Junee.

The driver was rescued from the waters by two flood technicians - one from Junee and the other from Temora - who walked the archangel floatation device to the driver's side door.

"They secured him and some of his personal belongings, and then we pulled them back in with a rope," Mr Gault said.

"He [the driver] was very thankful, very relieved to be out."

The entire operation took the team up to an-hour-and-a-half. The teams now have hopes they will be able to return to retrieve some of the fruit and vegetables onboard.

"If the water recedes, a tow truck might be able to get it back out," Mr Gault said.

"As long as we don't get another couple of millimetres of rain."

It follows an extraordinarily busy week for the Temora SES team, responding to flash flooding throughout the town.

"On Tuesday there was extensive localised flooding and our dam banks were overflowing," Mr Gault said.

"The main streets were flooded and we were out sandbagging as much as we could. The community here is very resilient, we ended up throwing open our doors for anyone who needed sandbags to come and get them.

"There were just so many jobs we couldn't respond to them all, but this community, you give them the tools and they'll help each other."
