Four firefighters attached to the Turvey Park Fire Station will spend the next five days cleaning up businesses and homes around the Taree area.
They will join a team of other firefighters from around the southern region.
"Altogether from Albury, Jerilderie, Wagga and Corowa we're taking four fire truck and 18 firefighters," said duty commander Daryl Manson.
"We're planning to have them back by Sunday but that is subject to change depending on what's happening there."
Meanwhile two members of Wagga's Volunteer Rescue Association travelled to the NSW Central Coast on Monday to take part in floodwater rescues.
They are expected to return at the beginning of next week.

Rain is expected to ease around the Mid North Coast on Wednesday and into the end of the week.
"No doubt we'll see a lot of water, but we'll be involved with more of the clean up than the flood rescue, so we'll be dealing with a lot of mud," Inspector Manson said.
"It's similar to during bushfires when we're there to assist, though this will be more recovery than rescue."
Southern region zone commander Stewart Alexander said the team will be focusing attention on clearing floodwaters, mud and leaked sewerage from homes and businesses.
"They will do everything they can to help those residents," Superintendent Alexander said.
"Wagga is no stranger to flooding and these firefighters are very well prepared for what they will see up there. They have all the right equipment."
Though, prepared as they are, Superintendent Alexander said they will still likely be faced with situations that are foreign to their experience in Wagga - including the likelihood that some of the flood waters may conceal sharks, stingrays and "all sorts of sea creatures".
