Firefighters were called to the blaze about 3.30pm on Sunday where a fire had sparked inside Tandoori Dhaba on Fitzmaurice Street.
Fire and Rescue NSW crews were deployed from both the Wagga and Turvey Park stations, according to Riverina Zone Superintendent Stewart Alexander.
"Our firefighters were there very quickly, and with some residential units upstairs, everyone was evacuated," he said.
"All people involved were safe with no injuries."
Superintendent Alexander said the fire was found to have sparked on the cook top of the restaurant kitchen.
"It was extinguished very quickly, so that minimised the damage and firefighters made sure it hadn't spread to any ducting, especially considering there are the residential rooms upstairs," he said.
In other news:
While the blaze was controlled in about 40 minutes, and Superintendent Alexander said it "could have been much worse", the business has stated through its telephone message service that they are currently closed.
"Due to circumstances beyond our control, Tandoori Dhaba will be closed for an indefinite period," the recording said.
"Please keep an eye out for an opening date soon."
