It is the first time since Chris Prigg led the club onto the field in 1994 that local faces will coach the Wagga club.
James Hay wasn't even born when Prigg was captain-coach of the club and the 24-year-old admitted it makes the appointment more special.
"It is a massive honour," Hay said.
"I've grown up as a Brothers junior, starting when I was five years old so I'm very emotionally connected to the club and know how much it means to a lot of people."
Hay will be joined by returning Brothers junior in Rigg.
Rigg has spent time in St George Illawarra feeder system before electing to return home with Brothers.
Hay expects he will bring a new perspective.
"I'm very excited to have Brody and he is a good set of outside eyes coming into the comp," he said.
"He has been in some very good systems and will have quite a few pointers in terms of training and game-day stuff."
However due to an ACL injury Rigg will be a non-playing coach this season.
Brothers president Mitch Dunn is thrilled to be able to foster talent through.
He's confident the pair will provide a great mix.
"We're really excited by having two juniors," Dunn said. "Rigga offers some outside eyes, brings all that experience and will be able to identify anything we need to change and hopefully all the boys are back on board."
Former captain-coach Cameron Breust and Hayden Philp will both play for Leeton next season but the remainder of the Brothers line up is unsettled.
Hay hopes having the coaching set up in place will kick start their preparations for 2021.
Brothers have played finals football for the last three seasons but haven't won any of their four games.
It is something Hay would like to see change.
"I want to find what we need to take us to that next step," he said.
"We've been a finals team but not gone much further in the last couple of years.
"Hopefully with Brody and a couple of other new eyes into the club we can see what can change in terms of lead up preparation and commitment from the players.
"It is a big step up from club footy to finals footy and that is the end goal.
"It is a long season before we get to there but everyone knows the preparation for a grand final starts pretty much from day one."
