Flip Screen Australia, created by Wagga man Sam Turnbull, manufactures and exports screening buckets for recycling across the globe, and their latest project will see an influx of jobs for the city.

The Hammerhead Crusher machine will combine recycling with crushing to turn rubbish into usable, salable products, made possible by an $824,791 funding announcement by the Federal Government.

The company's CEO Sam Turnbull said the support would go a long way to growing Wagga's economy.

"This sort of opportunity creates jobs, it creates a lot of growth in the area, and has great knock-on effects to the city as a whole," he said.

"We will be employing young people, and putting Wagga on the map to export more Australian, rural manufactured goods."

Mr Turnbull said the project would expand on their already successful business of locally designed and patented products.

"We are really proud to have grown here in Wagga, and it just goes to show you can manufacture successfully in Australia, don't believe anyone who says otherwise," he said.

"We can't wait to use this as an opportunity to train new apprentices which we are already advertising for now, and expanding the site in time."

Member for Riverina and Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack announced the funding on Monday, and said the decision was made easy when looking at the benefit to Wagga.

"Wagga is very much on the map for manufacturing from this," he said.

"With just a spark of an idea, Sam Turnbull has turned a dream into a worldwide export."

The focus on growing exports was vital for regional Australia, according to Mr McCormack.

"Exports are making Australia what it is, and certainly regionally through the pandemic, these areas have really held up manufacturing, infrastructure, agriculture and other services," he said.

"We are creating things that obviously are needed by the rest of the world, and that's creating jobs locally which is fantastic."
