A MAN has been charged after he allegedly crashed into a police car when fleeing a random breath test attempt in Wagga today.

Officers from the Riverina Police District attempted to stop a Kia Sportage at about 3.50am on Tuesday along Fernleigh Road, Ashmont, for a random breath test.
The car allegedly drove away from police, sparking a pursuit, and a short time late the Kia crashed into a telephone pole before reversing and ramming into a police vehicle.
Police allege the 27-year-old man driving the vehicle attempted to flee on foot, but was arrested a short distance away.
The Kia continued to roll backwards, hitting a second police vehicle, and a search of the driver's car revealed a pair of knuckle dusters which were seized.

The man was taken to Wagga Police Station and charged with police pursuit, possess prohibited weapon and disqualified driving.
He was refused bail to appear in Wagga Local Court today.
