Carey was flattened by a Mick Dodson tackle early in the 32-18 victory.
He spent the night in hospital after suffering an orbital floor fracture and from issues relating to high blood pressure.
Carey will seek specialist advice before determining the next step.
Dodson has been charged over the incident.
He is facing at least a week on the sidelines after being handed a careless/reckless high tackle charge.
Brothers captain-coach Cameron Breust is disappointed by the incident in the opening minutes of the clash.
"This one is frustrating as after watching the video the contact is just horrible," Breust said.
"It was very disappointing as it was quite a bad tackle."
Breust thought it was a send off offence.
Carey's injury is another blow for the Wagga club, who are chasing their first title in 25 years.
They've lost just once this season, an eight-point defeat at the hands of Gundagai at Anzac Park, but Carey adds to their injury list.
His loss will have a big impact on the side's forward pack.
"It's devastating news for the club as he has been one of our best players all year," Breust said.
"The combination he and (Hayden) Philp have created this season has been great to watch so it is unfortunate and very disappointing."
Brothers have the bye this week and Breust, who re-injured his calf in the win, believes it has come at a good time for the club with clashes against Tumut and Kangaroos to come before finals.
"This two weeks couldn't have come at a better time for us," he said.
"We will give them the week off and regroup. There is a massive game ahead."
Dodson has until 5pm Tuesday to enter a plea.
It is the first time the 44-year-old has been charged in his long first grade career.
If he enters an early guilty plea, Dodson would only miss Saturday's crucial clash with Kangaroos.
