Wagga firefighters were unable to save the Lake Albert home on Dalkeith Avenue that was gutted by fire in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The owners were away on a family holiday when emergency services were called to the home at 4.30pm. It took almost four hours to contained the blaze.
Riverina Police Inspector Adrian Telfer said the fire is not being treated as suspicious, but the family has returned with "a lot of pieces to pick up".
One of the residents was Scott Gerhardy, who is a well-known "fanatical Canberra Raiders fan" in Wagga.
Inspector Telfer made a plea to the community to help Mr Gerhardy rebuild his collection of Raiders memorabilia that was destroyed in the fire.
"That property is really important to him and it is really important we try and help him get back on his feet," he said.
"If there is anyone out there that wish to help out this family please come forward. We would like to see anyone who has any memorabilia or Raiders gear to please help them out."
Canberra Raiders players Elliot Whitehead, Jack Wighton and Jarrod Croker have since sent a special video message to Mr Gerhardy and his family, telling them to "keep strong".
The Raiders will return to Wagga next month for a home match against the Newcastle Knights at the Equex Centre on April 18.
A spokesman for the Canberra Raiders said the team was aware of the tough blow that Mr Gerhardy experienced at the weekend and plan to send new Raiders gear to the family.
In other news:
He said they hope to catch up with Mr Gerhardy when the team comes back to Wagga for its game next month.
Wagga residents could donate Canberra Raiders memorabilia by contacting the Wagga Police Station.
