Powerful performances from a trio of talented girls, plus a hat-trick of new records, were among the highlights at the Kooringal Public swimming carnival on Thursday.
The 11 years girls age group was a standout. Strong swimmers Saskia Malzenski, Evie Perry and Tayla Lawrence were locked in battle throughout, ensuring thrilling competition and memorable efforts.
Malzenski and Lawrence dead-heated for first in record time in their 50m breaststroke.
Lawrence also set a new mark in the 50m freestyle, breaking the old record which had been set 16 years ago, at the 2004 carnival. Only last year Lawrence broke a medley record which had stood for 12 years.
The day's other record breaker was Michael Roberts in the eight years boys freestyle.
The Lotz family also had a big day out with commendable efforts and strong participation from siblings Chloe, Richard, Annabell and Edward.
Carnival organiser Morgan Kennedy commended the students for the spirit on display.
"It was a really good day. We had some good chants and the house spirit was really good this year, that made it really exciting," Kennedy said.
Graham continued their dominance as the winning house, claiming a fourth straight swimming school championship.
