Ilovesaki ($5.50) proved he will be one of the major players in the $150,000 SDRA Qualifier with a four-length romp in the SDRA Championship Preview Class Four Handicap (1400m).
It was his second consecutive big victory after scoring by four lengths at Wangaratta last start.
The win gave Albury father and son combination Norm and Brodie Loy a winning double after scoring earlier in the day with Falling Waters ($26).
Norm Loy will now head into the SDRA Country Championships Qualifier (1400m) at Albury on February 22 with Ilovesaki.
The four-year-old has improved lengths at his past two starts after being given a freshen up by Loy and now boasts three wins from 10 starts.
Falling Waters took out the Springdale Heights Tavern Benchmark 58 Handicap (1175m) at his second start for Loy after being purchased as a prospective broodmare.
The mare threw herself down on the float on the way to the races at Corowa last month and was a late scratching so Loy has since decided to keep her on her home track at Albury.
"I thought she was a good chance," Loy said.
There was no shortage of wins for the locals on Tuesday.
Aside from the winning double to the Loys, Donna Scott and Blaike McDougall combined for success on Helcolore in the Boss Better Living Systems Class One Handicap (1400m).
It was the five-year-old's first win for the stable after consecutive second placings at Albury and Benalla.
"I couldn't be happier with him," Scott said.
"I've only had him for three runs for two seconds and a win. He's a big strong horse, he was a bit unlucky the other day so it's good to see him get a win."
That was the second leg of a winning double for McDougall, who scored earlier on Suburbia ($8.50) for trainer Andrew Dale.
