The Swans re-signed King this year with a plan for him to play the back end of the season and be primed for a big finals campaign.
The dynamic midfielder played in Griffith's win over Coolamon earlier in the season but it has been his only game for the year.
King is now in Croatia and the Swans are unsure whether he will return in time to play three more games and qualify for finals.
Griffith coach Will Griggs says King's availability is up in the air.
"It will be touch and go," Griggs said.
"We're still not too sure when he gets back and whether he'll play enough games to qualify.
"It will be disappointing (if he doesn't) but it is what it is. There's no point dwelling on it."
The query over King's availability comes as Griffith prepare to face Coolamon at Kindra Park.
The Swans still have four home and away games remaining after Saturday's clash against the third-placed Hoppers.
Griffith will be without Lucas Conlan due to commitments with GWS Giants in the NEAFL, while Brady Chambers and Isaiah Potts have also been ruled out.
Young ruckman Nathan Richards also remains sidelined with injury but will return next week against Leeton-Whitton.
While the Swans will head to Coolamon undermanned, Griggs knows the importance of the showdown with both teams locked together, along with Wagga Tigers, at the top of the ladder.
"It's pretty important, really. Obviously top three is the go and we've got some breathing room there now but we want to stay in calculations for the top one at the end of the day," he said.
Fresh from last week's bye, Griffith have just commenced the first of a three-week fitness block that Griggs hopes will have the Swans primed for an assault on a drought-breaking flag.
Coolamon, meantime, will welcome back Anthony Atkin, Zach Bradley and Hayden Leary, while mid-season recruit Marly McGregor comes in for his first senior game.
