The Eagles started the year full of promise, breaking a long drought and climbing off the bottom of the ladder with wins over Leeton-Whitton and Collingullie-Glenfield Park.
But the wheels have started to fall off, losing their next seven games by an average of 58 points.
To make matters worse, Narrandera has forfeited Saturday's reserve grade game against Collingullie-Glenfield Park.
But Grintell has stressed that will only be a one-off with a number of factors hurting their numbers for the trip to Crossroads Oval.
"We've been hammered by injuries ever since (Ben) Perry went down," Grintell said.
"We had another three (get injured) last week.
"We'll right for the rest of the year. Same day footy is a no-brainer for us. Our juniors are in Barellan on Saturday and there's a few tied up with the juniors that would have played."
Narrandera will take confidence from the fact they upset Collingullie-GP earlier in the season. The Eagles aren't travelling as well now, but either are the Demons.
They welcome back full-forward Marc Geppert from a month-long absence with a hamstring injury but lose coach Luke Gestier, Ed Perryman and Will de Jong.
Grintell said the message to his team is to keep fighting.
"Hang in there," he said.
"I fully believe we can win another couple of games and if we do that then we're about where we thought for the year."
