The Boiled Lollies proved too good for winless CSU at Beres Ellwood Oval on Saturday, taking a 54-10 victory.
After a couple of less than impressive performances, sidelined coach James Curgenven was pleased to put in an improved effort.
"We still have a bit to work on, and probably left 25 to 30 points out there after butchering a few tries, but it is great to get back into the winners' circle," Curgenven said.
"The boys played really well in parts.
"The forwards are doing a magnificent job at the moment with the system we are trying to get in place.
"Scrums are doing well, line outs are going well and they're doing exactly what I need from them."
Nick Gleeson scored a double after impressing in the second row.
Nathan Smith and Hamish Wrafter also scored twice each as City extended CSU's horror season.
They will face a much bigger test next week when they face Ag College while CSU hosts Albury.
