The author is also one of their teachers: Gavin Lihou.
Mr Lihou's book Revenge of the Cannibal Chickens attracted the interest of a Welsh publishing company and is now finding new fans.
Writing has long been a passion for the teacher of almost 30 years, and he first wrote and self-published this children's book almost 15 years ago, but after penning a sequel, the Cardiff-based Candy Jar publishing company expressed an interest and Mr Lihou decided to completely overhaul his original story and incorporate the two tales into one.
"The book is starting to get more international interest," Mr Lihou said.
Mr Lihou's book is even now available in a digital format for ebook devices.
He has been able to assure his young student fans that a sequel entitled Rise of the Zombie Chickens has been written and work has begun on a third book in the series.
And what was the "official" children's verdict on Mr Lihou sharing his work with his students?
Seth Steltar gave it a succinct "really cool" verdict, a view shared by schoolmates Krystian O'Sullivan and Amir Eslampanah.
