The regional awards program will involve all six Destination Networks, including Country & Outback, North Coast, Riverina Murray, Southern NSW, Sydney Surrounds North and Sydney Surrounds South, so competition for Wagga will be tight.
Destination Riverina Murray General Manager Richie Robinson said the event is a prime networking opportunity for operators to mingle, learn about and celebrate the sector.
"The Regional Tourism Awards are a highlight on the industry calendar each year and pivotal in supporting the development of countless businesses and tourism destinations," he said.
"Regional tourism is critical to the economic growth and prosperity of Destination Riverina Murray, and our visitor numbers continue to go from strength to strength."
Mr Robinson said he had high hopes for this year's entrants, and expected a good number of nominations.
"We had applications for every category in 2018 and we're hoping to increase on those numbers and create some great competition this year," he said.
"There's definitely been a surge in good tourism businesses coming through, particularly online, doing really exciting things across the region.
"Food and drink businesses are booming with amazing breweries and wineries that are consistently ramping up offerings, then accommodation is also seeing lots of unique listing like farm stays, so there are really great offerings for a rural experience."
The Awards aim to elevate quality regional tourism products with 27 categories covering a range of businesses from tour operators and restaurants, through to unique accommodation listings and education providers.
Mr Robinson encouraged potential nominees to seek assistance from him if they were unsure of any factor of the awards.
"We're happy to help out if anyone needs guidance for things like what category to enter or how to promote themselves," he said.
"There's lots of good businesses successful in regional awards but also on to the larger scale state competition, and we are looking forward to helping them do their best."
Wagga cooking school Food I Am was acknowledged for its contribution to tourism in the region at the 2018 Awards, and owner Tania Sibrey said she was thrilled with the recognition.
"I was delighted that my business, which has been such a dream for me, was recognised at such a prestigious event," Ms Sibrey said.
"It was very special to be celebrated for bringing a metro culinary experience to the country."
Submissions for awards can be made here, and close on Friday May 24 this year.
