Coach Justin Ward and English import Beck Frostick dominated at the top of the innings, putting on 153 for a perfect start.
Ward top scored with 85 while Frostick made 66 to help their team finish their 40 overs at 5-199 at Wagga Cricket Ground on Saturday.
Tom Williams (2-28) and Dave Garness (3-28) then had the Bulldogs in plenty of trouble with the bat.
They slipped to 5-59 when Todd Henderson departed for 31 and while Ben Willis (24) led a late resurgence before RSL were bowled out for 140 in the 33rd over.
Ward thought it was a massive win for the club, who now sit two points behind Kooringal Colts ahead of their Twenty20 clash on Friday night.
“The guys played pretty well in the heat, it was pretty tough going, but they stood up well,” Ward said.
Frostick also picked up two wickets.
Ward has struggled in his return to cricket this season, but was pleased to know he’s still got something to offer.
“Just to consolidate you can still do it is one thing,” he said.
“It was good out there.
“It was tough batting in the heat but I thought we did a good job, me and Beck, and it was good to bat in a partnership with him.”
Ward hopes the win can spark their season.
“It was a very crucial match to win,” he said.
“We needed to keep ourselves in touch with the top four with a win there and probably one more going into this weekend as we have two games on.”
