Olivia Frazier played a starring role for Young Guns with two early tries before completing her hat-trick late in the second half to see her side home in a replay of last season’s decider.
Lucy Anderson and Taylah Frazier were also among the scorers as Mark Wade’s team pulled away in a strong second half effort.
“I actually missed the first half due to work but I managed to get down for the second half and watch the girls,” Wade said.
“I’d say it’s the best second half we’ve had all season and that was with a bunch of the girls backing up from the country championships over the weekend.
“We’ve struggled in second halves so far and it was really great to see the girls finish off well and get the win.”
Sophie Crouch matched Frazier’s feat with a hat-trick of her own while Vienna Randal also found the chalk to give the premiers a sniff but the Jets found themselves on the back foot after a string of penalties and the eventual sending-off of Bella McDermott.
“We’re really happy to be four from four now, so hopefully we can keep going,” Wade said.
Meanwhile, Farmers Home Hotel have climbed into third place after broke through for their maiden win of the season.
Farmers edged past Don Tuckwell’s Audio in a 4-2 classic with Michelle Forrell and Ellen McIntyre sealing the win with two late scores.
In the men’s competition, The Casuals extended their hot streak with a 10-7 win over Advanced Communication Cobras to reinforce their standing atop the table.
Jackson Newling was the star with four tries for The Casuals as the Cobras suffered just their second defeat of the season.
The final game of the round saw cellar dwellers MJR Electrics and Rock Solid Gear Wizards face off to break their run of losses – a goal that, in the end, neither side achieved.
The bottom-placed sides played out a gritty 5-all draw with Jesse Margosis collecting a brace for the defending premiers.
Electrics must now prepare to face Quolls next week.
