Wagga Country Club’s showpiece event, the Wagga Pro-Am, and club professional Kurt Stegbauer were both recognised at the industry’s big night.
The Wagga Pro-Am was awarded the Pro-Am Series Tournament of the Year.
Stegbauer was named NSW-ACT Club Professional of the Year to cap off a big night for the club.
Wagga Country Club secretary-manager John Turner said the club was thrilled to be recognised at the awards night.
“The Wagga Country Club was nominated for the NSW-ACT PGA Pro-Am of the Year and from five finalists, the club was the winner. The Pro-Am is the richest event on the Pro-Am circuit in the state with a $40,000 prize purse and was won this year by former US PGA tour player Nathan Green,” Turner said.
“Across the year the players themselves vote on the best event and it was fantastic that the Ron Crouch Transport Wagga Wagga Pro Am was the winner.”
Turner said it was also well-deserved recognition for Stegbauer, who has been at the club almost two years.
“It is a credit to his efforts in a very short period of time and his expertise across juniors, coaching and playing amongst members on a regular basis, including shooting an amazing 59 earlier this year,” he said.
Golf NSW, Jack Newton Junior Golf, The NSW Golf Course Superintendents Association, Golf Management Australia - NSW, the ALPG, and the PGA of Australia - NSW-ACT Division came together for the first time to celebrate the best contributions made to the sport this year.
