Wagga cyclist Kylie Johnston has backed up her triple state title haul with a podium finish at the Cycling Australia Masters Road National Championships in Gippsland.

Johnston bagged silver in the Masters Women 5 criterium race after coming seventh in the road race and was pleased to see an improvement.
“I missed the time trial because it was too hard to get down on Thursday but I got there for the road race and I was a bit disappointed with how I went, to be honest,” Johnston said.
“I was pretty dehydrated and cramped up during the road race, so I really struggled on the last hill.
“That being said, I’m pleased I didn’t give up in the road race and then getting a podium finish in the criterium was great, I was really happy with that.”
Johnston was the standout cyclist during the NSW Masters Road Championships in Orange last month, clinching three wins from her three starts, and made the snap call to travel down to Victoria and race with the best in the business.
“It was very much a last-minute decision to go … but I’m glad I did,” Johnston said.
