A quickfire 38 from Cane Graetz ensured Wagga City started the new season with a victory over St Michaels at McPherson Oval on Saturday.

The Cats enjoyed a four-wicket win, passing the Saints total with 14 balls to spare.
St Michaels were restricted to 6-103 from their 20 overs, before Wagga City made it to 6-105.
Graetz hit five boundaries and a six in his innings of 38 off 30 balls to help Wagga City over the line. That was after earlier taking a brilliant catch to help dismiss St Michaels coach Justin Ward.
Wagga City captain Josh Thompson was rapt with his team’s opening performance.
“It was an unreal start to the year,” Thompson said.
“I was very happy with the boys, especially the way we fielded and bowled.”
Louis Grigg was the standout with the ball for Wagga City, taking 2-19 off four overs, while Thompson grabbed 2-18.
Jon Nicoll bowled tight for his return of 0-16 off four overs, while he scored an unbeaten 29 with the bat after opening the innings.
Tom Williams took 3-18 for St Michaels, while Luke Hipwell top scored with 26.
