Chisholm (145) enjoyed rounds of 73 and 72 on the opening weekend to establish a three-shot buffer heading into the final two rounds.
Ben Byrne leads the chasing pack on 147, with four-time winner Jarrod Meacham a shot further back on 148.
Talented youngster Charles Talbot (149) fired a second-round 71 to move to fourth, ahead of Isaac Molloy and Scott McLachlan, who share fifth spot on 151.
Chisholm won his first club championships at the Wagga Country Club last year, when defeating Bart Carroll in a three-hole play-off.
Carroll was a notable absentee at last weekend's opening two rounds.
The talented teenager, a three-time winner of the club championships at the Country Club, was playing in the Country Championships at Forbes last weekend.

Carroll finished in a tie for sixth, seven shots behind winner Harry Bolton. Carroll fired a three-under round of 69 on the second day to finish the tournament at two under par.
Mark Mackie leads B grade by two shots on 162. Tony Hanson (179) also has a two-shot lead in C grade.
The final two rounds will be played this weekend.
