This included the big guns. It was a different story in Saturday's second round, however, with vastly improved performances, particularly in the top grade.
One-marker, Kyle Tuckett, put last week's disappointing scratch score of 80 behind him when he notched up a par round 72. Tuckett now leads the field with a two-round total of 152, three shots ahead of fellow-low-markers, Heath Russell and Mick Hazell, while Jeremy Whalan is hot on their heels with a two-round total of 158.
In the B grade scratch event, a great contest looms between Elliott Green and Todd Gunning. Green has put together a two-round total of 170, just one shot ahead of Gunning.
Dean Merrigan is leading the way in the C grade scratch, with a two-round total of 190, two clear of experienced campaigner and Club Championships specialist, Eddie Wall.
Chris Goss, with solid scores of 71 and 75 for a 146 nett total, leads the A Grade handicap event, one shot clear of Todd Ramsay and wily vet, Bob Alexander.
Elliott Green seems to have a firm grip on the B Grade handicap trophy, with a nett two-round total of 134, while Todd Gunning is once again hanging in there, five shots behind Green on 139.
In C Grade, Dean Merrigan put together a total nett score of 142 to be two shots clear of Eddie Wall.
This weekend's final two rounds are looming as a terrific contest between players in all grades.'
