A tip-off from the public has led Riverina police to fine a man $1000 after he was caught not wearing a mask in public.

Early on Monday morning, Tumut Police were notified about an alleged unauthorised gathering, and a couple of hours later, officers attended premises on Capper Street, Tumut.
They spoke with several people who were abiding by the Public Health Order and reminded them of their obligations.
IN OTHER NEWS:
They subsequently dispersed, and a 22-year-old man was issued a $1000 fine for not wearing a fitted face covering and failing to comply with any other face covering directive - not carry a face mask.
Police are continuing to conduct proactive patrols in the area.
