The Eagles won just two games all year in Queanbeyan-based Hedington's first season in charge, with their depth being exposed once injury and availability through COVID struck.
With this weekend's scheduled round now cancelled, the Eagles' season is over and they were handed the wooden spoon after a loss to Griffith in last week's bottom-of-the-table clash.
"I'm definitely playing again (at Narrandera) next year. We haven't spoken about the coaching side of it, that's something we'll discuss over the next couple of weeks," Hedington said.
If I coach again (I'd love to), but I'm definitely sticking around. Footy out here is too much fun to go back into Canberra.
"With the playing group we have and what we've got to work with, long term it's something I can see myself doing.
Hedington added some Canberra talent to the squad this year, but feels they need a couple more bigger bodied, experienced players, to teach their young talent the ropes.
"We started the season pretty well, but then e had ten or 11 players out for a couple of weeks in a row and had a couple of 100 point losses," he said.
"We probably would have liked to have won a couple more, but half our team was younger than 20 for a while there and it made it really difficult to make any headway in the season.
"We had a month where we lost every game by 100 points and we had less people at training, it was hard to keep some of them motivated.
"But I asked some advice from the senior players and we turned it around a bit. While we weren't winning our performances were much better.
