However the Wagga club's chance to earn a finals double chance has hit a COVID hurdle.
Kangaroos have the bye this week and sit two points behind Albury ahead of the final round of the regular season.
With the Thunder drawn to host unbeaten Brothers at Greenfield Park on Sunday, Kangaroos can move past them on percentage after their 48-0 win over Junee at Laurie Daley Oval on Saturday unless there is an upset.
A COVID draw would see Albury finish in third.

Kangaroos coach David Warburton has been left frustrated by the timing of the lockdown.
"Hopefully we can get to playing in a weeks time," Warburton said.
However Warburton was thrilled with how they hit back against winless Junee coming off a tight loss to fifth-placed Gundagai.
Especially as some of their younger players start to step up.
"They were a bit light on, and lost one of their good players to injury in the match, but I think we played some really good football and hopefully have turned the corner," Warburton said.
It was the only game played after Young forfeited to Gundagai while the game between Temora and Southcity was a COVID draw.
