Reddies kept themselves in the hunt with a 35-17 win over Ag College at Beres Ellwood Oval on Saturday.
CSU have one of the dominant forces in the women's competition but not only need to win their final round clash against second-placed Waratahs on Saturday but also need results to go their way.
With the ladder reshuffle following Albury's withdrawal CSU are now fifth, one point behind Ag College and just three behind Wagga City.
However their Wagga rivals have games against winless Hay and Tumut, who have three wins to their credit, respectively on Saturday.

Captain Ivy Merlehan fears they may have left their run too late.
"It was good to get the win," Merlehan said.
"We're mathematically a chance of making finals but I'm not too sure it is going to happen.
"It's a very tight competition this year and all the teams are quite equal.
"It's also very unfortunate for Albury who have been going so well this year and having to pull out of the comp."
Tess Staines and Ellen McIntyre were once again the real strike weapons for CSU, both scoring three tries in the win.
However Merlehan was also impressed with the impact Georgia Roberts had.
Meanwhile ladder leaders Griffith bounced back from their first loss of the season to take a 37-0 win over Leeton.
Tumut also extended a tough season for Hay with a 40-10 win.
