After a good start from the Cherrypickers, Temora fought back to hit the front midway through the first half at Alfred Oval on Sunday.
However they struggled to contain the scoring power throughout the clash.
Young coach Nick Hall was pleased with how the side responded to take a 46-16 win.
"We came out and ripped into them but probably then relaxed a little bit and Temora are a good side and were always going to push back and play all the way to the death," Hall said.
"They did that and scored three tries but we hit back and got them again.
"They gave us a bit of a challenge and had to be better but we regrouped and just had too much firepower for them."

The Cornish brothers inspired a big back end for Young as Mitch crossed for a hat-trick, Nick bagged a double while Tyler didn't miss out on the tryscoring action.
With Temora leading 16-12, Nick Cornish put Young back in front after 31 minutes before older brother Mitch scored just before half-time.
Hall thought they were crucial moments in the contest.
"We made a few changes and it really steadied the ship," he said. "We got back to talking in defence and really communicating."
However their dropped off period is one thing Hall is looking to correct leading into finals, believing other teams will take advantage of.
"We have to be better and find a way to get through those periods," he said. "We did that but we have to stay on top of those things."
The win has Young three points clear of Gundagai ahead of their clash at Anzac Park on Sunday.
With a bye in the final round, regardless of the result the Tigers can't go around them.
Meanwhile Temora remain in fifth but are just one point ahead of Kangaroos with two rounds to play.
The Dragons still control their finals destiny but face the top two sides, Southcity and Tumut while the Wagga side tackles winless Brothers on Saturday before having the bye.
