Wagga back in list of The Lott luckiest postcodes for lottery wins

Thanks to a $2 million division one win on Saturday, Wagga has likely clawed its way onto the list of luckiest postcodes.

The Lott's list of luckiest postcodes required at least two division one wins to get on the 2021 leaderboard.

Wagga had a great start to the year with a woman in the city winning more than $9.8 million in a draw a few minutes into the new year on January 1.

However, the city had not had another known lottery division one winner until an anonymous Wagga man took home $2 million last week.

Wagga likely has the third-highest total lottery winnings across NSW so far in 2021 at more than $11.8 million, ranking below Maroubra at $51 million and Holt/Charnwood at $12.45 million.

Wagga resident Ray Blandford, who visited Hunters Newsagency on Monday morning to buy his syndicate's regular Powerball ticket, said he believed Wagga was a luckier place than average despite his own experiences.

"I've been buying tickets for 25 years and never really won anything," he said.

"I do think Wagga is a lucky place as I know someone who has won a lot of money twice but the wins were quite some years apart."

Hunters Newsagency sales assistant Julie Ion also said he believed Wagga ticket buyers were luckier than average.

"They do keep coming in, so they must have some luck," she said.

"I've sold division one winning tickets before."

Saturday's $2 million win was also a lucky day for Ashmont Newsagency, representing its first division one winning customer since the business was bought in 2015.
