The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, held the only division one winning entry across Australia in Powerball draw 1285.
The ticket won the woman, who is aged in her late 20s, the entire $9,835,085.97 jackpot and was purchased at Lucky Crow Lotto inside Wagga Marketplace.
The winning ticketholder told The Lott she had bought the ticket on a whim and it was only about the third time she had ever entered Powerball.
"I just thought, it's the end of the year and I should try my luck," she said.
"I haven't had a lot of sleep. I was with some friends after midnight and I was just trying to find something in my bag.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"I saw my ticket and thought maybe the results were out. I checked the ticket on the app but initially didn't know how much I'd won.
"I had to get my friend to check. It's just unbelievable!"
The lucky winner said she would take her time to decide what to do with the large sum of money about to land in her bank account.
"I don't know what exactly I'm going to do with my prize. I'm going to sit down and make a plan," she said.
"All I know is my life is really going to change. It's a great way to start 2021."
Lucky Crow Lotto owner David Ritter said he was thrilled they had sold the ticket.
"We found out early [on Friday morning], and we weren't intending to open today but once we found out the news we came in because we are so excited," he said. "It's a life-changing amount to win, especially coming out of 2020."
