IT was a game they expected to win, but Marrar ensured they kept their finals hopes alive with a 54-32 victory over The Rock-Yerong Creek on Saturday.

Coming off losses to the Jets and Charles Sturt University, the Bombers were far too strong for the winless Magpies to move a game behind the fifth-placed Jets.
However Marrar will step up a weight division over the next fortnight when they come up against top three teams North Wagga and Temora.
Bombers coach Matt Scofield said he was looking forward to playing the Saints, who he coached to the finals in 2019, but has realistic goals for his side.

"It's good to get a win again after losses to the Jets and CSU. It was expected but a lot closer to last time too," Scofield said.
"It keeps us thereabouts, we're sitting in sixth at the moment and we're not out of contention by any stretch.
"We'll use the next couple of games to work on some things we're trying to do, then look towards those games at the end of the season that are must-win ones.
"I said when I moved out there it wasn't about the first year or two, it was about building something with a new team. Hopefully in a couple of years' time they can get some experience and keep heading in that right direction."
The Saints are a vastly different line-up to when Scofield was at the helm with the likes of Sarah O'Leary, Flynn Hogg and Lily Wild bolstering their squad.
"It's a completely different team to when I was there. There's a lot of new players in there and some fresh faces to the Farrer League as well," Scofield said.
"It's a different team so it didn't have the feeling I thought it would."
Scofield felt North Wagga were flag favourites at the start of the year, but has been pleasantly surprised by the emergence of the Kangaroos.
"To be honest I think Temora are the surprise packet. They've improved a lot and at the start of the season," he said.
