After hooker Wilson Hamblin failed to return from half-time, another injury in their spine was the last thing the winless Wagga club needed in the wake of their 46-4 loss to Young at Equex Centre.
However after David Oti became the latest Brothers junior to make his first grade debut on Sunday, co-coach James Hay hopes their tough season will reap dividends for years to come.
"We always knew we were going to have a tough assignment this year but I'm super proud of the boys and will we keep building as a club," Hay said.
"It is going to set the club up for a good couple of years if we can keep improving like that."
Heading into a big clash with Southcity, Hay also thought the 42-point loss was a real improvement on their last showing against Young.
The Pickers scored a 78-4 victory in round two.
