The Kangaroos won the battle of the unbeaten teams 58-53 to improve to a 7-0 record, and are near certain to extend their flawless start against the battling The Rock-Yerong Creek next week.
In other matches Northern Jets secured their third win of the season with a 47-36 win over East Wagga Kooringal, with the reward outright fifth spot on the table.
Jets coach Beth New, in her first year in charge, said wins over the teams near them on the ladder are vital if they are to improve on their sixth-place finish in 2019 and play finals.
The Jets (3-4) are now a game ahead of the Hawks, Marrar and Barellan (all 2-5), and have a chance to draw level with fourth-placed Coleambally (4-3) when they host them on Saturday afternoon.
"We knew it was a big game this week. It was a chance to climb up the ladder and separate us from other teams," New said.
"We knew that coming into the game, and we played well to get that position."
After the Blues the Jets take on Marrar and Barellan, matches which will have a major bearing on who grabs the two finals spots still realistically up for grabs.

New said she's enjoying her stint as coach, but admitted adjusting to playing while barking out directions is a work in progress.
"It's a lot more difficult thinking about other players when you're on court, you just want to do your job properly instead of focusing on everyone else," New said.
"But Caro (Caroline O'Brien, assistant coach) has been great with managing that side of things.
"It has been working pretty well, she's got a lot of experience and can calm us down or give us a new direction at break times."
