A man who allegedly reached speeds of 170km/h in an attempt to evade police has been caught and charged.

About 9.45pm on May 12, officers attached to Riverina Traffic and Highway Patrol tried to stop a silver Ford Falcon traveling south on the Sturt Highway, Collingullie for a random breath test.
Police claim the driver initially stopped, but accelerated at speed as officers approached the car.
A pursuit began but it was terminated a short time later after the driver crossed to the northern side of the road numerous times while allegedly reaching speeds of more than 170km/h.

After an investigation, police attended an address on Green Street, Lockhart on Monday and arrested a 34-year-old man.
He was taken to Wagga Police Station and charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, exceed speed more than 45 km/h, driver using mobile phone when not permitted, drive recklessly/furiously or in speed/manner dangerous, contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic) and intimidate police officer in execution of duty.
He appeared at Wagga Local Court on Monday where he was refused bail to reappear at the same court on June 28.
