Telstra had to restore services to a huge portion of southern NSW after not one but two cables 230km apart were damaged, wreaking havoc on dozens of mobile sites on the local network.
A back-up line was lost at Barmedman when a power issue was caused by mice damaging the equipment needed for transmission, and then the main line was cut several hours later near Adelong.
IN OTHER NEWS:
A Telstra spokesperson announced on Thursday morning that power to the Yiddah Exchange near Barmedman was restored at approximately 6.30pm on Wednesday.
"An additional piece of hardware known as a rectifier was added to the power system for additional hardware backup at the exchange," they said.
"The fibre works from the other location were completed restoring network redundancy just before 11pm. Network redundancy means essentially a backup when there is an impact elsewhere like we experienced yesterday. We want to thank everyone for their patience."
