The Marrambidya River Festival will feature music, dance, poetry and performances which capture the region's creativity and culture.
Festival producer Greg Pritchard said the event, originally meant to be held at a larger scale, would be an intimate experience for the city.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"It will showcase our local performing artists outside of their typical platform like a theatre or studio," he said.
"The Riverina's newest theatre company FREEROAM will be performing, joined by performance artist E.L. Elliott.
"Charles Sturt University's 2021 performance theatre students will perform Terrain, an exploratory place-based, site-specific performance integrating vocal exploration, movement and Australian texts based on the theme of water and land."
Music of Zimbabwe will also be performed by Felix Machiridza, and poets Roya Pouja, David Gilbey, John Harper and Celia Connor will read their work before Ivy Simpson dances the story of her relationship with the river.
Tickets will be free with the support of Riverina Water and Wagga City Council, but capped at 100 people.
The event will be located at the tiered seating by the Old Hampden Bridge site on Fitzmaurice Street, starting from 5pm this Friday, April 30.
"I encourage all art lovers to bring a picnic dinner and enjoy local performers with the mighty Murrumbidgee River as the backdrop," Mr Pritchard said.
