Crews attached to Turvey Park Fire and Rescue attended the fire on Willans Hill just after midnight on Tuesday.
Upon arrival, police and firefighters found the car to be well alight beside the painted water tower off Lord Baden Powell Drive.
Station commander Jeff Edwards told The Daily Advertiser it took crews half an hour to extinguish the car.
The silver SUV seven-seater was destroyed by the fire.
Mr Edwards said the car had not been reported stolen at the time of arrival, leaving him to suspect that at the time of the fire, the owners remained "blissfully unaware of what had happened to their vehicle".
"The value of those kinds of cars is astronomical, but more importantly it's the hassle for mum and dad - if it is a mum and dad - to get the kids off to school, get to appointments and get to work without a car."
Police will further investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire.
