THEY'VE perhaps been the forgotten team in premiership discussions, but Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong sent an emphatic statement to the rest of the Riverina League with an 87-point demolition of Turvey Park at Ganmain Sportsground on Saturday.

Key forward Riley Corbett slotted seven goals and Osborne recruit George Alexander bagged four as the Lions' relentless pressure proved too tough for the Bulldogs to handle.
Turvey Park would have been encouraged by a competitive first-up loss to the highly-fancied Coolamon, but the hosts dominated from the outset and posted ten goals to one in the first half to put the result to bed.
The Lions lost forwards Nick Murray and Louis Miller from last season, but Corbett showed he is back to his lethal best after missing most of the 2020 AFL Riverina Championships with an ankle injury.
They are unbeaten after a big first-up win at Narrandera.
"The forward line's working really well. They're creating space for each other and everyone's getting a lick of the ice cream," GGGM coach Sam Martyn said.
"It's also down to the pressure the small forwards deliver for us. We've got some guys playing some really solid roles down there, they open up that space and allow Riley and George to reap the rewards of that."
Martyn said the pressure they put on the Bulldogs throughout was the benchmark for the rest of the season.

"We built around our pressure, it was relentless today and we pride ourselves on that," he said.
"The way the boys committed to it, the second and third efforts were outstanding today.
"That's the big takeaway for us, just how much pressure we applied. It spooked Turvey a little bit and they probably didn't get to play the game they had in mind, but credit to our blokes the way we went about our footy."
Martyn said captain Ben Walsh, who played his first game of the year, was influential with his intercept marking and kickstarted many of their attacking raids.
He said Jono Neville's speed and potent kick did plenty of damaged on the wing, while Daniel Foley continues to impress in the ruck as gun big man Jacob Olsson recovers from an off-season knee cleanout.
"We put an emphasis on a fast start and that's pleasing," Martyn said.
