Van Rijswijk clocked a personal best of 1:17.34 in the 100m breaststroke to finish behind Queenslander Paige Leonhardt (1:15.16).
The Wagga Swim Club member had a packed schedule on Tuesday after qualifying for the finals of the 200m individual medley, 50m breaststroke and 100m backstroke.
Clubmate Jamie Mooney gets his Australian Open Age Championships campaign underway on Wednesday in the 16 years boys 100m freestyle, while Chloe Donelan will compete in the girls 14 years 200m individual medley.
