Kurrajong Timber recently launched their kindling product, which allowed the organisation to create more working positions for disabled members of the community.
Manager Jim Seymour said the the operation has already been a great success.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"We've been able to open up six new positions here, five of which have already been filled," he said.
"Giving people with a disability something to do like this is so important, they really thrive and enjoy it, they want something to do so this is fantastic."
The new avenue has also seen Kurrajong eliminate a large amount of their waste which would otherwise go to the tip, according to Mr Seymour.
"We're producing about 50 bags of kindling a day, so that reduces our tip fees as well," he said.
"Somebody's rubbish is someone else's gold, I suppose."
Seven kilogram bags are available in pairs for $25, with delivery included, across Wagga, Narrandera, Leeton and West Wyalong. Mr Seymour said customers were already coming in and showing interest.
"I think it helps that people supporting us know they are also giving back to the community and people with disabilities at the same time," he said.
