The Wagga teenager, who has signed for the Continental team for the next two years, broke his right arm in a prang in Croatia in one of his first hit-outs for his new team.
Barnhill won his first state title in the under-19 time trial in November while he secured a top five finish in his debut overseas campaign at the Tour de DMZ in Korea in late 2019.
The Wagga Cycling Club member was due to compete in the first race in Slovenia this week, but hopes to be back competing within a few weeks.
