Almost 200 primary and secondary school children from across the region took part in the event, with netball, cricket, rugby league and goalball among the activities.
"The whole idea of the day is to get these kids out and involved in sports," project coordinator Rae Anderson said.
"In schools sometimes students don't get involved because they don't know about the adaptions there is for them in a school environment.
"It's a great way to get them involved and let the schools see some of the adaptions they don't know about.
"We get the sports to come out and do a program, but the students do a pre-event survey to see what sport best fits them."
Students with intellectual and physical disabilities, autism and sensory (hearing and vision) impairments were all catered for, as well as those with learning difficulties or mental health illnesses.
The event, part of 22 similar days to be rolled out across the state in partnership with children's charity Variety, was held across two venues in Equex Centre and Bolton Park due to rain.
The initiative is aimed at children aged five to 18 and is designed to provide health benefits, social wellbeing and improved self esteem.
