The artwork was designed and painted by Isaac Ferguson, who grew up in Wagga on Gurwood Street.
Now living near Byron Bay, the 22-year-old travelled home and spent 10 days on the mural.
"A really important part of the mural was to honour Romano's history as an icon of Wagga," Mr Ferguson said.
"We also wanted to link it to Wagga's own history."

The blue colours used in the artwork refer to the pub's branding with the imagery, including street signs, the Hampden Bridge and crows.
Mr Ferguson said he spent eight days from 6am to 5pm painting, with a friend's help, and two more days putting on a protective coat.
He added it was so rewarding to come home and be able to bring the piece to life.
Belinda King, licensee of Romano's Hotel, said for four years she has stared at that wall and thought, "surely there is something we can do here".
With murals popping up throughout the city, Ms King said she knew it would be fantastic to have one on Romano's wall that shined a light on the building's history and breathed some new life into the area.
"Then we touched based with Isaac Ferguson, and I gave him a very bad brief, and he managed to pull it into an amazing piece of work," she said.
"He came down in February and completed the mural for us, we are so happy with it, and I think it has added a lot of vibrancy.
"If we can see more things like this, that can only be a good thing."
